Carried to the Table

July 25, 2021 Speaker: Timmy Wilkerson Series: Miscellaneous

Passage: 2 Samuel 9:1–9:13

The Big Idea
We should receive and radiate God’s warm welcome.

1. ICE BREAKER: What is the best meal you have ever had and why?

2. The big idea of the sermon was about David’s kindness to Mephibosheth. Have you or someone you know received a similar kind of warm welcome? If so, how does that change the way you think of loving your neighbor & showing hospitality?

3. Sometimes it is easier to help others than to receive help when we need it. How does what we learn about the Gospel from this passage free us to receive help from God and others?

4. In John 9:3, Jesus says that a man was born blind so that “the works of God might be displayed in him”, and in the sermon we connected that idea to why Mephibosheth suffered. Share about a time that you have seen that God allowed you to suffer so that the works of God might be displayed in you.

5. In verse 1, David says that he was showing kindness to Mephibosheth “for Jonathan’s sake”. How does this act fulfill David and Jonathan’s covenant in 1 Samuel 20:15? Is their covenant pointing us to something greater?
