Passage: Mark 6:1–6:6

Familiarity of Jesus does not guarantee faith in Jesus.

Reading Plan:

Monday: Mark 1-2

Tuesday: Mark 3-4

Wednesday: Mark 5-6

Thursday: Mark 7-8

Friday: Mark 9-10

Questions:

  1. ICE BREAKER: Have you ever met a famous person?

  2. Those in attendance were "astonished" (v.2) by the teaching of Jesus. Can you share about a time where you were similarly shocked by realizing something about God from His word?

  3. The rapid onset of questions from vv.2-3 reveals the degree and depth of the room's doubters. Which teaching or elements of Jesus do you find yourself doubting or struggling to understand?

  4. Doubt is a natural result of our sin nature. How might Christians help one another in these seasons of doubt?

  5. Jesus would ultimately be rejected by those who were most familiar with Him. What are some subtle ways folks tend to reject Jesus today?

  6. America has a familiarity of Jesus, but many lack faith in Him. Who are you hoping to share the gospel with? Tell your group and take time to pray about those opportunities together.
