About the Search Team

In crafting this Search Team, the Elders of the Church at Martinsburg had a two-fold desire:

  1. Identify unique individuals who love our church and have the ability to bring unique perspectives and gifts to the team.
  2. Produce a team that, as a whole, reflects the culture, demographics and diversity of our church.

With much prayerful consideration and discussion, these are the Covenant Members that make up our Pastoral Search Team.

Patrick Flowers (Search Team Chair) has been attending the Church at Martinsburg since 2015 and became a Covenant Member in 2016. He has been married to Zaye Flowers since 2001 and he has three children: Patrick Flowers (P.J.), Savannah Flowers, and Aiden Flowers. His previous vocation was in law enforcement; he currently works as a federal contractor in the security field.

Pat currently serves in the capacity of a teacher at the Church at Martinsburg through Core Seminars and is currently one of our Lay Elders. He enjoys seeing God glorified through His people as they walk in newness of life through Christ’s victory over sin.

Jessica Alfonso has been a participant and Covenant Member of the Church at Martinsburg since 2011. While heavily investing in Community Groups, she has also served on the Set Up Team, the Fusion Team, and the Hospitality Team. She’s found much joy in being on mission in reaching everyone from her Neighbors to the Nations.

She is currently the Vice Principal of a local intermediate school in Berkeley County and has been an educator for 13 years. In May 2018, she earned a doctorate in Administrative Leadership from Shenandoah University.

Bridget Covell has been attending the Church at Martinsburg with her husband, Mike, since early 2016, becoming a Covenant Member in November 2016. Last year, Bridget served on the Marriage Conference team and participated in the Alaska True North mission trip over the summer. Since October 2017, she has led the Fusion Ministry Team.

Bridget became a Christian as a young parent and was baptized by her husband in April 2001. Bridget and Mike have two grown sons, Dylan (21) and Ian (18). Bridget is currently completing her master’s degree in nonprofit leadership while working for WV Adult Education as their regional trainer.

Christopher Gomes has been attending the Church at Martinsburg since 2010 and became a Covenant Member in 2012. He and his wife, Amber, have been married since 2015 and have an adventurous two-year-old daughter.

Currently, he works for a financial tech company in Hagerstown, MD. He’s been involved serving the church in various ways: from a brief summer internship to volunteering with facilities, children's ministries, international mission trips, and leading a community group. He was also on the church staff as a Pastoral Assistant to the Lead and Associate Pastor. He currently writes theological papers on behalf of the Elders and is pursuing pastoral ministry in the DC metro area.

Jamie Leatherman is the husband to Rachel, father of 4 kiddos and self-declared “native” of West Virginia. He is the Project Manager for a local construction business here in Martinsburg. He has been a Covenant Member since 2011 and is currently one of our Lay Elders. Jamie serves as a Community Group leader and teacher in Core Seminars.

He enjoys snuggling up with his wife, reading, spending time with friends and family, and just about anything outdoors.

Liz Lundberg is the proud puppy mama to 4 crazy dogs and lives with her grandmother in Martinsburg. She is a clinical social worker who currently works full-time for Winchester Public Schools’ Alternative Ed Program and part-time as a therapist for Children's Home Society of WV.

She has been a Covenant Member of the Church at Martinsburg for 8 years and has joyfully served in various ways over the years, currently as one of the Student Group leaders and a substitute G4 service coordinator.

Terry Major has been married to his wife, Martha, for almost 39 years. They have 3 children and soon-to-be 5 grandchildren (who live in Central NY). He’s a retired missionary/pastor and served rural communities and churches for 42 years.

He and his wife have been Covenant Members of the Church at Martinsburg for one year and serve on the Fusion team.

Lisa Williams, along with her family, started attending the Church at Martinsburg in 2012 and have been Covenant Members since March 2013.  She served as the Fusion Ministry Team Leader from 2013-2017 and currently serves on the Hospitality Team.

She and her husband, Dennis, have been married for 33 years. They have two grown sons who are married, and even became grandparents for the first time last year! She has been blessed with the opportunity to quit working outside the home and provide childcare for her granddaughter and nephew.

Brandy Parker (Non-voting administrator) is a mom of two. Isaiah is a college sophomore and Olivia is a high school freshman. They have 2 awesome dogs: Duke and Buster. Brandy currently works as an Administrative Assistant for the owner of a local construction company, here in Martinsburg.

Brandy began attending the Church at Martinsburg in 2014 and has been a Covenant Member since 2016. She has served in the children’s ministry as a classroom helper and moved into a teaching role about 2 years ago. She has also served on the Marriage Conference and Backyard Bible Club teams.
