About the Church at Martinsburg

The Church at Martinsburg is a people helping people find and follow Jesus through discovering God, developing as Christians, and deploying as missionaries. Our aim is to leverage our generous, intentional, and compassionate congregation toward a greater passion for the Gospel, relationships, and the Kingdom. Started in 2009, the church began with a few families longing to proclaim the Gospel and reach those far from God. With approximately 250 covenant members, 15 community groups meeting throughout the week and two Sunday services, the church is thriving and is rooted in an unwavering commitment to Jesus, the Bible, and advancing God’s kingdom. Expositional preaching, personal evangelism, local mission endeavors, domestic church planting, and international partnerships define who we are.

About the Situation

A culture of sending has been nurtured and developed; and as a result, the founding pastor and his family have been sent to the nations. This sending has created an opportunity for new leadership and continued focus on God’s glory being declared among all peoples. This church is led by a team of humble and gospel-driven elders. This is an incredible opportunity to join a group of shepherds who lead, teach, and protect the Church at Martinsburg with joy! Our church is praying for and anticipating the next Lead Pastor.

About the Location

Martinsburg is located in the fastest growing area in the state of West Virginia. The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia is within 90 minutes of Washington D.C. and Baltimore. Martinsburg and its surrounding communities are excellent areas to raise a family, experience history, and explore the outdoors. Martinsburg is on a continued trajectory of growth for new business opportunities, increasing population, new construction projects, and is a mix of small town and big city with family-focused values. Many people move to the Eastern Panhandle because of the affordable housing market, strong school systems, and proximity to major cities.

About the Position

The next Lead Pastor of the Church at Martinsburg must be a strong expositional preacher and teacher. This man should value pastoral care and discipleship as he purposefully identifies and cares for others on a regular basis. The work of preaching and discipling should be undergirded by shepherd-like qualities such as honesty, trustworthiness, faithfulness, and steadfastness. Pastoral experience in a similar-sized church (or larger) is preferred. The mission of this church is set, so a man who values the work of helping people find and follow Jesus is a must as he seeks to lead this body of believers to extend the kingdom of God from our neighbors to the nations.
